About TheRabbitGuide.com
A cozy, practical resource for rabbit owners, by people who love rabbits.
Why This Site Exists
Rabbits are one of the most misunderstood pets there is. They are often sold as easy, low-cost animals for a child's bedroom, when in truth they are intelligent, sensitive, long-lived companions with very specific needs. Most new owners are handed a small hutch, a bag of muesli-style food, and almost no real guidance. Then the questions start. Why won't my rabbit eat? Is this much chewing normal? Do rabbits really need a friend? Why does everyone say hay is so important?
We built TheRabbitGuide.com because those questions deserve warm, specific, trustworthy answers. We spent hours reading guidance from exotic vets and the House Rabbit Society, comparing hay, pellets, pens, and litter, and sorting genuinely useful products from clever marketing. We could not find a single friendly, level-headed place built around the realities of living with a rabbit.
So we made one.
What We Do
TheRabbitGuide.com is a decision-support resource for rabbit owners of every age and experience level. We research products, explain rabbit care in plain language, and lay out options so you can make confident choices for your bunny. Every guide is written with one goal: give you practical knowledge without the overwhelm.
We cover the topics that matter most across a rabbit's whole life:
- Diet and hay: why grass hay should be about 80% of the diet, choosing pellets, safe greens, and treats
- Health: GI stasis, dental disease and molar spurs, E. cuniculi, head tilt, sore hocks, and when to see an exotic vet
- Housing: why hutches fall short, how much space a rabbit needs, and safe free-roam and pen setups
- Litter training: the simple approach that works with a rabbit's natural habits
- Behavior and bonding: understanding binkies and flops, and bonding two rabbits into a happy pair
- Grooming: managing molts, preventing hairballs, and why you should never bathe a rabbit
- Breeds, seasonal care, and senior rabbits: from a young Holland Lop to a gentle eight-year-old
How We Make Money
We are transparent about this. TheRabbitGuide.com earns money through the Amazon Associates program. When we recommend a product and you buy it through our link, we earn a small commission. This costs you nothing extra.
This model lets us keep the site free and ad-light while still investing time in thorough research. We only recommend products we believe are genuinely good for rabbits. We will never recommend something just because it pays a higher commission, and you will not find us pushing the muesli mixes or tiny hutches that are quietly bad for rabbits.
What We Are Not
We are not veterinarians. We do not diagnose conditions, and we do not prescribe treatments. Nothing on this site should be taken as medical advice for your rabbit.
Rabbits are prey animals and skilled at hiding illness, which is exactly why a rabbit-savvy exotic vet matters so much. If your rabbit stops eating or passing droppings, seems painful, or shows any change that worries you, the right next step is always a call to an exotic vet, because GI stasis and other rabbit emergencies can become serious quickly. We are here for the everyday care decisions and product choices that happen alongside that professional care.
Our Approach
We believe in being warm, practical, and honest. A rabbit is not a low-effort pet, but it is a deeply rewarding one, full of personality, mischief, and quiet affection. Our job is to help you give your rabbit a long, comfortable, enriched life, so you can spend more time enjoying the binkies and flops.
